  Sabia que a Escola Portuguesa de Arte Equestre (EPAE) utiliza exclusivamente garanhões Alter Real? Através da selecção, treino e exibição de cavalos de Alter em “Alta Escola”, a EPAE desempenha um papel fundamental na preservação da tradição equestre portuguesa. Na foto o cavaleiro Rui Almeida com Quejeito, executando uma capriola.

Did you know that the Portuguese Riding School uses exclusively Alter Real Stallions? With the mission of selecting, training and presenting these stunning horses in classical dressage presentations, the Portuguese Riding School plays a fundamental role in the preservation of Portuguese equestrian tradition. Sabia que a Coudelaria de Alter Real comemora 268 anos no dia 9 de Dezembro de 2016? Fundada em 1748 pelo Rei D. João V esta é das coudelarias com registos históricos mais antigos em todo o mundo – um património genético e histórico inigualável.

Did you know that Alter Real Stud will commemorate 268 years of existence in the 9th December 2016? Founded in 1748 by the King D. João V this stud has one of the oldest breeding records in the world - an incomparable historical and genetic patrimony.

Sabia que a Tapada do Arneiro é o nome da herdade onde está localizada a Coudelaria de Alter com uma área de 800 hectares totalmente murada? Esta, entre outras curiosidades, tornam a Coudelaria de Alter num ponto de visita obrigatória no Alto Alentejo.

Did you know that "Tapada do Arneiro" is the name of the homestead where Alter Real Stud is located and that all its 800 hectares are totally walled? This and many other curiosities are the reason why this stud is an essential visiting site in north Alentejo.

 "Largada das Éguas" é um dos rituais intemporais da coudelaria, em que a égua da AR atravessa o portão do pátio das éguas em direcção às pastagens.

"Start of the Mares" it is one of the timeless stud's rituals when the AR herd crosses the gate of the mares' patio and makes its way back to the fields.

Dar um nome a um cavalo na Coudelaria de Alter tem uma regra: começa pela letra do ano de nascimento (em 2016 será o “M”) e a 2ª sílaba começa pela 1ª letra do nome do pai. Confuso? Exemplo: o nosso garanhão Beirão nasceu em 2006 (letra B) e é filho de Rubi.

Naming a horse at the Alter Stud has a rule: it starts with the letter of the year of birth (in 2016 it’s “M”) and the 2nd syllable starts with the 1st letter of the sire’s name. Puzzled? Example: Beirão was born in 2006 (“B” letter) and was sired by Rubi.

Beirão AR, um dos garanhões em Alter, é filho do olímpico Rubi. Com mais de 40 descendentes inscritos, o Beirão foi campeão da Taça de Portugal a nível PSG em 2014, tendo iniciado a sua carreira internacional em 2015. É com entusiasmo que comunicamos que este ano o Beirão irá beneficiar 12 éguas AR.

Beirão AR, one of the Alter’s stallions, was sired by the Olympic Rubi AR. With more than 40 descendants, Beirão was champion of the 2014 Portuguese Dressage Cup, competing in PSG Level and began his international career in 2015. We are happy to announce he will benefit 12 AR mares this year.

Sabia que a Coudelaria de Alter dispõe actualmente de um efectivo reprodutor de 60 éguas Alter Real? Esta época foram seleccionados para reprodução 50 destes animais.

Did you know that Alter Stud herd is composed of 60 AR mares? This year 50 of them were selected to enter the breeding program.
